The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently issued their Fiscal Year 2013 Performance Report which shows that despite the challenges of the sequester, the commission saw a lot of success in the past year.
One area where that is most evident is the mediation program. EEOC mediation offers an opportunity for employees and employers to find mutually beneficial resolutions without the time and expense of taking their charges to trial.
Last year, 11,513 cases were mediated throughout the United States. Of those, 8.890 – or more than 77% – reached a mediated settlement agreement. Those settlements totaled over $160.9 million dollars in monetary benefits, the 2nd highest year in the program’s history.
If you have filed a charge with the EEOC, or have had one filed against you, and you want to learn more about if the EEOC mediation process is right for you, contact an experienced Minneapolis employment law attorney with LeBlanc Law & Mediation at 612-819-9652.
